Wow, can you believe it’s almost summertime? Of course,
here in Missouri, it has felt like summer since early
April. We’ve had some 90-degree days already, and I have to
admit I turned on the air conditioner once or twice. It was
for the dogs though…really…they get so hot with all that
thick Yorkie fur. Okay, well maybe it was a little bit for
me also.

In reality, my two Yorkies have very opposite attitudes
when it comes to the heat. Ellie likes to be treated like
the Princess she is, so she prefers to stay inside on the
couch with the air conditioning. Rylie is more of a tomboy
and wants to be outside anytime the sun is shining. She
loves it out there. She’ll sit on the deck and sunbathe in
the morning, and then lounge under a tree in the afternoon.
I have to force her to come inside once in a while or she’d
stay out there all day.

If you have an outside dog, or an inside dog who loves to
be outside, I’ll bet you wish you could find something for
them to do that will keep them occupied, and maybe even
give them a bit of exercise. Maybe you’d like a little
