Welcome to the November 2006 edition of LITTLE SHOP NEWS
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
It’s that time of year again, and we’d like to take a
moment to thank ALL our customers, newsletter subscribers
and friends for all your support. We hope you had a great
year, and wish you a very happy Holiday Season!!!
This is always a bittersweet time of year for my little
Yorkie Rylie. She loves the outdoors, and I believe she
thinks she is a Labrador. If I let her, she’d spend all day
outside in the sunshine, watching for cats, squirrels and
bunnies who dare to trespass in HER backyard. Now the
weather is cooling off and she’s not very happy. The patch
of sunshine on the deck doesn’t provide the warmth she
remembers from just a few weeks ago. And those darn leaves
all over the yard stick to her underbelly and slow her
down. I don’t care for those leaves too much myself. I try
to pick off as many as I can BEFORE the dogs come in, but
it seems like every day I find leaves scattered all over
the house.
Pretty soon, the snow will come, and I’ll have wet dogs to
deal with. Not to mention I’ll be carrying Ellie the
princess and forcing her to go outside, since she doesn’t
do rain or snow. And yes, I’ll be out in my backyard
shoveling snow off the grass so my girls will have a little
patch where they can do their business. I’m sure my
neighbors get a good chuckle over that every time they see
me in the backyard with my snow shovel. Now why didn’t I
potty train them using pottypads? I’ve even heard of people
who trained their little dogs to use a litterbox like a
cat. If I had done that, I’d never have to get bundled up
at 3 a.m. and carry a little dog out to a patch of grass I
shoveled in the middle of a snowstorm. Of course, my wife
will say that I wouldn’t have to do it if I hadn’t spoiled
the dogs in the first place. What can I say? I’m a sucker
for a sweet little girl.
Ah well, I guess it’s all worth it when I get to snuggle up
with my Yorkies and watch the pretty snow fall outside the
window from the comfort of my sofa next to the fireplace. I
wouldn’t trade that for anything. I’ve said it before and
I’ll say it again. I don’t remember what my life was like
before Yorkies, but I can’t imagine it was anything worth
remembering anyway. As Thanksgiving approaches, I’m
thankful for my wife, my family and my friends, but there’s
a little place in my heart that will be forever thankful
for the joy and love I have found in two little 8 pound
balls of fur. I never knew I could love anything so much.
Give your little ones a hug today (and you can hug your
real kids too…lol) and be thankful for the unconditional
love and companionship they’ve brought to your life. If we
could all love one another the way our pets love us, the
world would be a much better place. It’s certainly
something to strive for during this upcoming holiday
season, and always. Okay, I’m off to go hug a couple of
Yorkies…

Normally, I would think it’s a bit too late in the year to
think about bike riding, but here in Missouri, we just had
nearly an 80 degree day during the last weekend in
October….so who knows? Another great item from PET CRUISER

PET TIPS
If your pet gets a burr in it’s coat, just apply a small
amount of vegetable oil to the burr and let it sit for 5
minutes, then comb it out. You can also try crushing the
burr with pliers to hasten the removal.
